Questions for the Community
Personal Reflection
- How well do you know your own pain? Are you in the habit of “listening to your life”? (Evaluating what is going on and inviting God’s presence and word on matters?)
Group Discussion
- Re-read chapter 4. How did Sunday help you see what God is saying through the text? What questions did it answer? Which questions did it raise?
- As you think about the future good and glory of Christians, how does that help you in the difficulty of the now? Do you keep those truths in front of you? How?
- What is God promising to the lame, the driven away and the afflicted (vs. 6-7)? How does that tie into Hebrews 12:11?
- Why is the pain of childbirth an amazing small picture of what God is doing in the big picture? (see vs. 9-13)
Plan of Action
- Sit with God this week in your pain. If you are an avoider of pain…pray for grace to stop and face your pain, then evaluate it with God’s help (his Spirit and Word are always available to you). If you tend to wallow in your pain, pray for fresh grace to receive the hope, comfort and obedience that is found there. Invite God to lead and love you there in the hurt. Look for what God may be calling you to do or not do.
