Sermon Notes & CG Questions 01.23.22
Dwell Well in the house of God/1 Timothy 4:6-10
point out (vs. 6)
6 If you put these things before the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, being trained in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine that you have followed.
don’t focus on fables (vs. 7)
7 Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths.
1 Timothy 1:3-4; Acts 6:4
train for godliness (vss 7-10)
Rather train yourself for godliness; 8 for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. 9 The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance. 10 For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.

Questions for the Community
Personal Reflection
- Who taught you how to grow up in God? Did your upbringing come with a spirit of legalism or license that you need to correct?
- How does “I do” (from last week) and “I don’t” (from this week) serve as fences and freedom in your life with God?
Group Discussion
- Review the passage and points from Sunday. What most grabbed you and why? Discuss with your group.
- How do last weeks passage (vss 1-5) serve to balance this weeks (vss 6-10)? What does that teach about reading in the flow that the Bible was written? What danger do we avoid? What help do we gain from this?
- Look again at the 3 points. Is there a specific action you need to start or restart? Is there something stirring in you that you need to spend more time digging into with the help of the Spirit to guide you into all truth?
- What one word would describe your physical work out plan? How about your spiritual work out plan? If you are unhappy with the OUTPUTS…change the INPUTS. Is there one step forward you can take to grow up in God?
Plan of Action
- If you are spiritually disciplined, pay attention this week to what is BEHIND the toil and striving. If you are NOT, invite God in to inspect why you aren’t. What is keeping you from starting?
