1. Read Philippians 4:1-7 slowly and thoughtfully. There is a LOT in there. What is God saying through Paul in this section?
2. Focus on vss. 4-7. Consider the following ideas and how they relate: joy, nearness of God, worry, wants, peace.
3. How are worries and wants both able to enslave us? “Guard” (vs. 7) is military protection of a city…what is taught here about our freedom?

4. Both fear and peace are contagious. How does your community help or hinder you in the topics this passage discusses?
5. Review what Jesus said on worry (Matt. 6:31-34) and compare it to what is commanded and promised here. Help one another see the potential we all have in Christ to really live free.

6. Using words (a story, scenario or just adjectives), paint a picture of what it looks like to live according to what is commanded in this passage. How are worries, wants and relationships impacted by being in Christ?
