Questions for the Community
Personal Reflection
- Striving and resting are a rhythm that God has designed into all of creation. Sit and think through the goodness of this and how wrong things go if one or the other is neglected or extreme.
- How is Jesus leading you and continuing to teach you about the whole topic of grace and good works?
Group Discussion
- Review the role of good works in salvation and life (it may be helpful to read Ephesians 2:8-10 out loud).
- Look at each of the points and describe what they mean in your own words. How does a right understanding of good deeds/works/behavior lead to a healthy and whole life?
- What sin patterns emerge from a wrong understanding of good works?
- How do you respond to the truth that God has good works for you to do as his handiwork?
- Share your “good work dreams”. Things you hope will happen one day.

- Do good works today! Stop and actually think in your mind “I’m not doing this to earn God’s favor or avoid his wrath. I’m doing this as a response to the favor I already have and the wrath I’ve already avoided”
- Write out what you’ve done in a secret journal that you won’t share with others. It’s fun to look back on the opportunities that God has brought your way. Write down ways you plan to do good. Strategize in the Spirit! Conspire for the great good of others. This will become a delight to see all the purpose God has created you for.
