You don’t have to…You get to. / No es que tengas que hacerlo … Es un privilegio.
When I was a young christian I used to struggle with thinking that I could never do enough to earn God’s favor, until a friend shared this with me that helped me a lot and today I want to share it with you with the hope that it will also help those that need to hear it:
Martin Luther beat his body with whips, crawled for miles on his knees, fasted for weeks at a time in order to get close to God. But nothing worked. And then one day he read in the Bible: “The just shall live by faith.” —and he understood that the Christian experience is not ‘Do, do, do’—it’s ‘DONE!’ Jesus did it all.
Dear saints, get rid of the burden of trying to be spiritual. Get rid of the notion that since you had morning devotions ten times in a row, God owes you a blessing. It doesn’t work that way. You are justified by faith alone.
‘Then I don’t have to have morning devotions?’ you ask.
No, you don’t.
‘I can sleep in?’
Yeah, you can.
‘I don’t have to pray or study the Word?’
Nope.
You don’t have to do any of those things. You get to. You get to check in with God morning-by-morning, moment-by-moment. You get to spend time late at night or before the sun rises seeking the face of the Lord. It’s not got to, it’s get to—and that makes all the difference in the world, for once you’re free from the ‘got to’s,’ you invariably do more than you ever did before!
Cuando era un joven cristiano solía luchar pensando que nunca podría hacer lo suficiente para ganarme el favor de Dios, hasta que un amigo me compartió esto que me ayudó mucho y hoy quiero compartirlo contigo con la esperanza de que también ayude a aquellos que necesitan escucharlo:

Queridos santos, libérense de la carga de tratar de ser espirituales. Deshazte de la noción de que, dado que tenías devociones matutinas diez veces seguidas, Dios te debe una bendición. No funciona de esa manera. Eres justificado solo por la fe.
“ Entonces, ¿no tengo que tener devocionales por la mañana? ”, Preguntaras.
No, no necesitas.
“¿Puedo dormir hasta tarde?”
Sí, si puedes.
“¿No tengo que orar ni estudiar la Palabra?”
No
No tienes que hacer ninguna de esas cosas por obligación. Tienes el privilegio de llegar a hacerlas. Tienes la oportunidad de comunicarte con Dios mañana a mañana, momento a momento. Puedes pasar tiempo a altas horas de la noche o antes de que salga el sol buscando el rostro del Señor. No es que tengas que hacerlo, es que es un privilegio y una bendición, y eso marca la diferencia, porque una vez que te liberas de los “tengo que hacerlo”, ¡invariablemente haces más de lo que hiciste antes!
