God is Still on the Throne | Dios sigue en el trono
Whew. The start of this new year has been rough. Anyone looking at our country lately is likely questioning if we can ever get along again. Even within the church, we see division and strife. Finding common ground and unity seems an insurmountable task (and maybe on some days, not even worth it). Instead of wallowing in despair and hopelessness, our job as believers is to turn to the Lord, read His Word and ask His Spirit for wisdom. In His graciousness, He has given us hope and some clear direction.
Here are some passages that have encouraged me lately that I hope can be an encouragement (and maybe a challenge) to you.
Psalm 121:1-2 I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness,and to walk humbly with your God?
Col 3:2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
Romans 12:16-18
Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
Some may be happy for this week’s transition, some relieved, some disappointed, and some terrified. Whichever camp you are in, remember that we are all made in His image and we know who is on the throne.
Uff. El comienzo de este nuevo año ha sido duro. Cualquiera que esté mirando nuestro país últimamente probablemente se preguntará si alguna vez podremos llevarnos bien de nuevo. Incluso dentro de la iglesia, vemos división y contienda. Encontrar puntos en común y unidad parece una tarea insuperable (y tal vez algunos días ni siquiera valga la pena). En lugar de revolcarnos en la desesperación y la desesperanza, nuestro trabajo como creyentes es volvernos al Señor, leer Su Palabra y pedirle sabiduría a Su Espíritu. En su gracia, nos ha dado esperanza y una dirección clara.

Romanos 12:16-18
Vivir en armonía unos con otros. No seas altivo, sino asóciate con los humildes. Nunca seas sabio en tu propia opinión. No pagues a nadie mal por mal, sino piensa en hacer lo que es honorable a los ojos de todos. Si es posible, en la medida en que dependa de usted, viva en paz con todos.
Algunos pueden estar felices por la transición de esta semana, algunos aliviados, algunos decepcionados y algunos aterrorizados. Sea cual sea el campamento en el que te encuentres, recuerda que todos fuimos hechos a Su imagen y sabemos quién está en el trono.
