Immortal After Death | Inmortales después de muertos
It is beautiful to speak of the resurrection…. the problem is that before resurrection there must be death and that is when we don’t like the subject so much.
But I want to ask you something … are any of you sure that you will live on this earth forever? No? Magnificent, then this beautiful verse is for all of us.
John 11:25: Jesus said to her: I am the resurrection and the life; He who believes in me, even though he is dead, will live.
And whether we believe this affirmation of Jesus or not, we will all live in eternity to the glory or damnation of our souls.
Perhaps that is why the fear of dying will remain there. Now we are scared with the pandemic. But before, the bad news of cancer, a heart attack, an accident…. The possibility will always be there.
This is how we humans are. We are obsessed with living longer, with being immortal. But when we see that almost two thousand years ago someone died and rose for us, we learn to appreciate life more and also to fear death less.
Years ago I asked my neighbor: “David, what scares you to death?” “Well, dying” he answered me instantly.
So I told him, calmly, that after dying there is life and life forever. I think because of his confused face, he didn’t understand my answer.
Then I told him something that may sound even more confusing … Imagine that someone died for you and for that sacrifice you are immortal. That’s what Jesus did. He died for you, you just have to believe it and you will have eternal life by his side. Your flesh will die one day, but your soul will be immortal.
Miraculously, David’s face turned from confusion to joy and he said the two most beautiful words that can exist: I do believe! My good neighbor and I confirmed his step of faith when we read: Don’t we believe that Jesus died and rose again? So also God will raise with Jesus those who have died in union with him. (1 Thessalonians 4:14)
Your story does not end with death, on the contrary, it is just beginning. Because we have someone who came to rescue us and save us from that defeat. David knows it, lives it and enjoys it today. Last month a bacterium took his body, but Jesus took his soul and forever. Because that’s the way it is, after death there is life and life forever!
Es hermoso hablar de resurrección…. el problema es que antes de resurrección debe haber muerte y ahí el tema ya no nos gusta tanto.
Pero les quiero preguntar algo… alguno de ustedes esta seguro que no se va a morir? no? magnifico, entonces para todos nosotros es este hermoso versículo.
Juan 11:25: Le dijo Jesús: Yo soy la resurrección y la vida; el que cree en mí, aunque esté muerto, vivirá.
Y creamos o no en esta afirmación de Jesús, todos viviremos en la eternidad para gloria o para condenación de nuestras almas.
Tal vez por eso el temor a morir permanecerá ahí. Ahora estamos asustados con la pandemia. Pero antes no dejaba de preocuparnos la mala noticia de un cáncer, de un infarto, un accidente…. Siempre la posibilidad estará ahí.
Así somos los humanos. Estamos obsesionados por vivir mas, por ser inmortales. Pero cuando vemos que hace casi dos mil años alguien murió y resucito por nosotros, aprendemos a apreciar mas la vida y también a temer menos a la muerte.
Años atrás le pregunté a mi vecino: David, que te asusta de la muerte? Pues morirme me respondió al instante.
Entonces le dije, tranquilo que después de morir hay vida y vida para toda la vida. Creo que por su cara de confusión, no me entendió mi respuesta.
Entonces se lo dije más confuso aún… Imagínate que alguien murió por ti y por ese sacrificio tu eres inmortal. Eso hizo Jesús. Murió por ti, solo tienes que creerlo y tendrás vida eterna a su lado. Tu carne morirá algún día, pero tu alma será inmortal
Milagrosamente la cara de David se transformó de confusión en alegría y dijo las dos palabras más hermosas que pueden existir: si creo! Mi buen vecino y yo, confirmamos su paso de fe cuando leímos: ¿Acaso no creemos que Jesús murió y resucitó? Así también Dios resucitará con Jesús a los que han muerto en unión con él. (1 Tesalonicenses 4:14)
Tu historia no termina con la muerte, por el contrario, apenas comienza. Porque tenemos a alguien que vino a rescatarnos y salvarnos de esa derrota. David lo sabe, lo vive y lo disfruta en la actualidad. El mes pasado una bacteria se llevó su cuerpo, pero Jesús se llevó su alma y para siempre. Porque así es, después de morir hay vida y vida para toda la vida!
