The Best Advice I Ever Received | El Mejor Consejo que he Recibido
Several years ago, when my children were still teenagers, I remember feeling a bit frustrated by what was happening, because a few days ago I had given my children some advice to be very careful with a situation that could get worse if they did not heed my warning, I told them that I had gone through a very similar situation in my youth and that my wish was that they would not have to suffer as I suffered, but as good teenagers, they ignored what I told them and now they were in a lot of trouble due to their actions.
At that time I was wondering, a little sad, “Why did they not listen to my words?” if the intention of my advice was precisely to help them do things correctly and at the same time avoid the problems they were now going through. I even thought … if my children listened to my words they would have avoided so much trouble!
And it was right there, at that precise moment, that God gave me the best advice that I have received in my entire life! He told me, “exactly” with a slightly emphatic tone but with a smile of love on His face. “If you heed every one of My words, you would save yourself so many problems in your life.”
Then I understood that in our lives, it is not enough just to hear His Word, or know His Word, or even understand His Word – we have to put it into practice in our lives! We must pay attention to God, not because it is an obligation or because we think that He wants to impose His will in our lives, but because He loves us, He wants the best for us, He wants us to be better children of His, and He wants us to avoid the suffering that some of our decisions can bring.
If we heed every one of His Words, we would avoid so many problems in our lives!

Hace unos cuantos años, cuando mis hijos eran todavía unos adolescentes, recuerdo que me sentía un poco frustrado por lo que estaba pasando, pues hace unos días atrás les había dado un consejo a mis hijos para que tuvieran mucho cuidado con una situación que podría empeorar si no hacían caso a mi advertencia, les dije que yo había pasado por una situación muy parecida en mi juventud y que mi deseo era que no tuvieran que sufrir como yo sufrí, pero como buenos adolescentes, hicieron caso omiso a lo que yo les dije y ahora se encontraban en muchos problemas debido a sus acciones.
En ese momento me preguntaba, un poco triste, porque no escucharon mis palabras?, si la intención de mi consejo era precisamente ayudarles a hacer las cosas correctamente y al mismo tiempo evitarles los problemas por los que ahora estaban pasando. Incluso pensé… si mis hijos escucharan mis palabras se ahorrarían tantos problemas!
Y fue justo ahi, en ese preciso momento, que Dios me dio el mejor consejo que he recibido en toda mi vida!, me dijo, “exactamente” con un tono un poco enfático pero con una sonrisa de amor en su cara, “Si hicieras caso a cada una de mis palabras, te ahorrarías tantos problemas en tu vida”
Entonces entendí, que en nuestras vidas, no es suficiente con tan solo escuchar Su Palabra, ni saber Su Palabra, ni siquiera entender Su Palabra, tenemos que ponerla en practica en nuestras vidas! Debemos de hacerle caso a Dios, no porque sea una obligación o porque pensemos que El quiere imponer su voluntad en nuestras vidas, sino porque El nos ama, El quiere lo mejor para nosotros, El quiere que cada vez seamos mejores hijos suyos y El quiere evitarnos el sufrimiento que trae algunas de nuestras decisiones.
Si nosotros hiciéramos caso a cada una de Sus Palabras, nos evitaríamos tantos problemas en nuestra vida!
