NBC supports work in the Middle East through NEO. Their offices (the “command center” for ministry throughout the Middle East) are in Beirut, about 3 miles from the port explosion (the last I heard was that the buildings were standing but suffered major damage so are not currently usable).
NEO’s passion for vulnerable children and adults (including around 1.5 million Syrian refugees that Lebanon has taken in) is a big part of what led to NBC’s decision (a few years ago now) to to support financially.
And then the pandemic has grown the number of people that can no longer afford food.
As has Lebanon’s economic crisis.
NEO added to their relief efforts – and then there was the Beirut port explosion… And now the prime minister of Lebanon has quit…
The needs there are more than physical. An understatement from a recent update: “the team has continued to meet with those seeking God while adapting to the changing circumstances.” All kinds of turmoil.
So please join me in prayer for individual, country-wide, and region-wide peace in addition to the physical and spiritual needs of young and old.
